i recently read a book called the fault in our stars that is a wonderfully gripping and heartfelt love story between two teens dealing with cancer. the author, john green came highly recommended by my sons' (both of them are in her class) middle school language arts teacher. so after i devoured it in a few days, and dried up my tears, i thought it would be the PERFECT thing to share along side of this photoshoot.
it's not often that your kids have the privilege of being educated by a highly gifted teacher that they happen to LOVE having. add to that, the fact that they are able to keep that same teacher for three years straight as they grow under her care and you have an extremely thankful mother.
so as Nic wraps up his 8th grade year under this teacher, i wanted to give her something special. so i gifted her with a family photoshoot.
it was such a joy to see her outside of the classroom surrounded by her people. i thought they perfect way to share her shoot would be to surround it with john green quotes.
so here's to you, Mrs. Young... and the teachers out there like you... i'm thankful to have given your family something to treasure, you certainly have done so for ours.
"some infinities are bigger than other infinities."
"i cannot tell you how thankful i am for our little infinity."
"i wouldn't trade it for all the world. you gave me forever within the numbered days, and i'm grateful."
"you don't get to choose who hurts you in this world, but you do have some say in who hurts you. I like my choices."
"it would be a privilege to have my heart broken by you."
"you say you're not special because the world doesn't know about you. but that's an insult to me, because i know about you."
"some people don't understand the promises they're making when they make them. right, of course. but you keep the promise anyway. that's what love is. love is keeping the promise anyway."
"maybe 'okay' will be our 'always'."
(as one mama to another, thanks for letting me capture you. as i read these quotes, i thought of my own husband and children and how they capture how i feel about them. i'm pretty sure you'd say the same. xo. )
